  • 50th Anniversary of

  • Hemingway's Death

With the 50th Anniversary of the death of literary genius Ernest Hemingway, Stern Magazine (of Germany) invited photographer Dave Anderson along to capture photos throughout their exclusive journey. This journey included visiting the fortress where Hemingway took his own life, and Dave even got to snap a shot of Hemingway's trunk and typewriter.

The editors of Stern award a bottle of champagne to either the best story, best photography, or best layout, and this week they understandably awarded Dave for his breathtaking work on the story. Congratulations Dave!

Pay close attention to the picture below (with the logs)--this is where Hemingway's wife buried the gun he used to take his life. Before burying it, she had a local welder break the weapon down into pieces so it would prevent someone from hanging it on the walls in their home. Ironically enough, the land where this is located (Hailey, Idaho) is owned by Adam West, the actor who played Batman in the TV series.
